Thirteen people have been killed and 41 injured after a fire broke out on Friday at a night club in Thailand’s Chonburi province, southeast of the capital Bangkok.
Police Colonel Wuttipong Somjai said by telephone that the fire at the Mountain B night club in the Sattahip district had started at about 1am and that all the victims so far identified were Thai nationals.
Witnesses reportedly heard two loud explosions before they saw flames coming from the club’s roof.
Footage posted on Facebook showed people running from the blaze, with the Bangkok Post reporting that some of the victims were “engulfed in flames”.
